How to Fight the Satanic Whispers

Life is full of ups and downs – we have times of joy and times of disappointment, we have our eman increase or decrease, sometimes we feel close to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, and sadly at other times we turn away. We must identify if it is our nafs or Shaitan that’s deviating us or decreasing our faith, thus directing us to prepare the appropriate weapon.
If it’s your nafs stop the habit and replace it with a good habit as Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) said: “And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night. Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds. That is a reminder for those who remember.” (Surah Hud Verse 114)
It is important to educate ourselves about the sin or reflect upon the detrimental habit and then think about the akhirah.
To fight Shaitan’s whispers, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala gave us a strong system of defense and the best of it is our faith:
Increase in Knowledge
The Qur’an and Sunnah are our reference and guides for knowing what is permitted and forbidden in life as Muslims, it is therefore an obligation to learn about Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala and thus increasing in our pursuit of knowledge strengthens our faith. We should also turn to scholars when in doubt or needing clarification. Try to read The Noble Qur’an, ahadith, various books about Islam to increase your eman to put into practice, and to increase your reliance of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala as that knowledge will bithn’illah be your protection next time Shaitan tries to make you deviate.
Rely on Allah
Know that there is no might nor power except with Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala and without Him you can not succeed.
Seeking Refuge: Al-Istiadah
Sincerely seek refuge with Allah from the accursed; do so before entering the toilet, entering your house, when leaving the house, when having bad thoughts, when beginning to recite The Qur’an, so on.
Du’a:
Make du’a for help and protection, and find the Sunnah du’a which can be found in the supplication book Fortress of the Muslim.
Remembrance of Allah:
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “Allah the Exalted says: `I am as my slave expects me to be, and I am with him when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me inwardly, I will remember him inwardly, and if he remembers Me in an assembly, I will remember him in a better assembly (i.e. in the assembly of angels).”
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Read, Recite, Reflect on the Qur’an:
You can listen to the Qur’an on your mobile phone, your iPod or MP3, or in your car, on your way to work or school or at home. Make a habit of reading the Qur’an daily, even if it is just a few verses. It is our source of guidance and protection for our eman.
Finally, Shaitan is our enemy and let us wage a war against him and our nafs by devoting ourselves to increasing our eman and serving Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. At the end of the day, Shaitan does not make us do something, he whispers. If you fall, which we are all bound to do as humans, don’t give up and turn back to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala:
Say: ”O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (Az-zumur 53)

My Account

Everyone of us has an account with Allah [SWT] which will be reviewed on the Day of Judgement.

"We shall set up scales of justice for the Day of Judgment, so that not a soul will be dealt with unjustly in the least, and if there be (no more than) the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it (to account): and enough are We to take account." {Holy Qur’an, 21:47}.

Allah sees, hears and knows every single thing that we do, think, feel and utter openly or in secret!

"They may hide (Their crimes) from men, but they cannot hide (Them) from Allah, seeing that He is in their midst when they plot by night, in words that He cannot approve: And Allah Does compass round all that they do." {Holy Qur’an, 4:108}

"And verily, We shall recount their whole story with knowledge, for We were never absent (at any time or place)." {Holy Qur’an, 7:7}.

"Did you then think that We had created you in jest, and that you would not be brought back to Us (for account)?" {Holy Qur’an, 23:115}

"One Day every soul will come up struggling for itself, and every soul will be recompensed (fully) for all its actions, and none will be unjustly dealt with." {Holy Qur’an, 16:111}.

"Verily We shall give life to the dead, and We record that which they send before and that which they leave behind, and of all things have We taken account in a clear Book (of evidence)." {Holy Qur’an, 36:12}.

“And the record [of deeds] will be placed [open], and you will see the criminals fearful of that within it, and they will say: ‘Oh, woe to us! What is this book that leaves nothing small or great except that it has enumerated it?’ And they will find what they did present [before them]. And your Lord does not do injustice to anyone.” (Qur'an 18: 49).

Abdullah Bin Mas`ud (radhiallahu anhu) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said:

“A man shall be asked concerning five things on the day of resurrection:
{1}. concerning his life, how he spent it;
{2}. concerning his youth, how he grew old;
{3/4}. concerning his wealth, whence he acquired it, and in what way he spent it; and
{5} {what was it that he did with the knowledge that he had.”
(Tirmidhi, 5197).

‘YOU’ are the author of your Book, so make sure it is worth reading on the Day of Qiyamah [Judgement]!!!

True Beauty

Beauty lies, not in superficial appearances, but in the true beauty of our creation.

For all those beautiful women who remind us of The Most Beautiful:

Hair needs to be either dead straight or entwined in Goldilocks curls. Anything in between is a no-no. Waves signify complacency and let’s not even get started on the frizz.
Dare we tread on the face territory? Forehead, too big? Need a fringe to cover it. Too small, can’t wear a teeka to weddings (traditional jewelry hooked on the hair, worn on the forehead). Eyes, chalky? Need an eyeliner overdose. Should be almond shaped but not too almond shaped. Colored gets a bonus and an envy card. Eye lashes have to be carefully scrutinized, only long and batty cuts the cake, otherwise mascara saves the day. Dark circles are sin, in fact any blemish, freckle, or acne is a major felony. In extreme cases moles are cosmetically removed in case they do not quite find the right beauty spot. Excuse my makeup illiteracy, I cannot list the products used on the face. I’m sure you get the point.

Descending down the slender neck and raised pair of clavicles to each and every aesthetic bone in the body. They should protrude at the flattering places; sometimes palpable, sometimes visible. There is a stubborn ratio of muscle and soft tissue on these bones (girls get depressed if they use the word “fat”). There is always some problem area or another. The rule is: the scale is always leaner on the other side. Fad diets, starvation, green tea intoxication, walking dozens of kilometers a day, working out till they think they will collapse; whatever it takes. Beauty takes pain. Excruciating, overbearing, toe curling pain.
What’s next; clothes? There is only a tiny allowance for non-designer wear. Maybe once, or if times get desperate, twice a week are they allowed to wear something nameless and without a fashion heritage. On those days the girls tend to keep sitting and not walk around on campus. Shoes, bags, accessories, everything should be head turning, in style, and ‘vogue.’ There are grades to the perfect day.

Grade 4: You are the centre of attention; there is a crowd around you. You are basking in the spotlight.
Grade 3: You get lots of compliments individually.
Grade 2: Your friend gets more compliments than you. She makes you look bad. Mental note: do not hang out with friends who are prettier than you.
Grade 1: Just one compliment (not involving your body, but your attire).
Grade 0: Not a single compliment! Please skip the next day and spend time in the salon/mall/gym/crying in your room. Most importantly, THINK about what you are doing with your life.
This is the average day in my university. This is how conversations begin and end. When we can not walk out, we zone out. You know how some people can fall asleep with their eyes open in class? Over the years some of us have mastered the skill of undergoing an out of body experience when faced with such situations. We are there but our hearts are somewhere else. They are with a very special Someone who loves and adores us without looking at us. What?!
What is there to love and adore if not the looks?

There is a lot actually. Believe it or not, we are loved; in the most genuine of ways. We are not judged by our bad hair days or makeup-free faces. There is no fat versus bone density scan in our relationship. A button nose is not a deal breaker. In fact all these seeming vitals come no where on the list, not even way at the bottom. In reality, we are saved from the prying eyes and
dehumanizing radars of the fashion police. Whatever types of crop we own are safely tucked away in our hijabs. Our bodies are a trust from Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala and are sheltered in our abayas. Our faces are the windows to our hearts and souls; the outlet for the light of our iman. And no one getsto degrade a Muslimah’s face: it is sacred, wrapped carefully behind the veil. How much thanks can a helpless slave offer to her Lord? How can we ever thank Him enough for this comfort and protection of this covering? Alhumdulillahi Rabbil ‘Aalameen.
As ambassadors for the youth, we have downtrodden the essence of a woman’s body. For reasons of complete wisdom and understanding, Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala has created man with His own Hands. His very own genius has been used to create the most perfect and remarkable woman; a woman who has been given the blessing of being the mode of birth itself. We are the means of sending life into this world, what a magnificent responsibility! Have we ever thought about the potential closeness we can develop to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala just by appreciating and being grateful for this gift? The fact that Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is Al Khaaliq, The Creator, and He has made us ‘Ibaadul Khaaliq, the slaves of The Creator who have been assigned this beautiful role in the process of creation. SubhanAllah.
What have we done to deserve this honor and privilege? Absolutely nothing. And this is how we repay Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala? By being ungrateful of our bodies? By degrading our own selves? By lowering ourselves to this public, pathetic state of mere appearance? By taking the concept of a woman’s beauty to such exaggerated delusional heights? A woman’s beauty is in her imaan and akhlaaq. Remember how RasulAllah sal Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam advised for men to choose their wives?
The Prophet sal Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said, A woman is married for four things: her wealth, her family status, her beauty, and her religion. So you should marry the religious woman otherwise you will be of the  losers. [Bukhari]

These are the compassionate teachings of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala and His Rasul sal Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. We are truly blessed to have been created women. And yes we are beautiful, internally and externally. Rightly so, we have been encouraged to dress up and look good for Allah subhanahu wa ta’alawhen we go to meet Him in salah, when we sit amongst our mahram men, when we interact with women, and for our own happiness. But not to such an extent that it clouds our reasoning, hardens our heart, and diverts our focus from the purpose for which we have been created for; to worship Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala.May Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala grant us all the sweetness of faith. May He restore to us the hayaa that befits the daughters of this Ummah.. May He beautify our hearts with His Remembrance. May the light of imaan radiate from our faces. May we be saved from betraying the trusts we have of our bodies. And may we be the ideal believing women of the Most Perfect Lord. Ameen.

How do you wake up for fajr?

How do you wake up for fajr? And I don’t mean wake up for a day or two, but how do you keep waking up for fajr, constantly, everyday, without fail.
There’s loads & loads of websites online giving you tips and advice on how to wake up early. But our focus is not on worldly tips (which should be taken by all means, part of tying the camel ;)), our focus is on the spiritual means.

My dear brothers/sisters, every day when you read Surat Al-Fatiha, at least 17 times a day, you recite the verse “You Alone we Worship, and You Alone we Seek Help from”: You want to worship Allah? “Yes!” You need His help then. You want to wake up for Fajr? “Yes please!” Guess what, you need Allah. You cannot, I repeat, cannot, wake up for fajr without Allah’s help. Now ask yourself the question, what can I do to show Allah that I truly and utterly want to wake up for fajr?!

Have you ever had days when you’re about to go to sleep, and you have this deep feeling that you’ll definitely wake up for fajr? And have you ever had days when you know for certain that you’ll oversleep? Imagine the two scenarios, which I’m sure some of us have gone through:

Scenario 1:

You feel high with Eman, you’ve prayed your witr, read some Quran, and even though you’ve got 2 hours to sleep till fajr, you’re certain you’ll wake up because you’ve set your mind, heart and body to make sure you wake up. In fact, sometimes you keep on waking in the middle of the night thinking it’s fajr time out of fear that you’re going to miss it. If you haven’t experienced this, think of a time when you had to catch an early flight or a bus/train, and think of how your mind, heart and body were switched on, and it doesn’t matter what time you slept, you’ll wake up.
Scenario 2:

There are days when deep down you really don’t want to wake up, you hope that you “oversleep” so you feel less guilty about it, and Allah may have mercy upon you and still wake you up, and that’s when the battle with the snooze alarm starts and the classic shaytaan trick “just 5 more minutes…” begins.
How do we maintain scenario 1 everyday?
With these 2 scenarios, one details a feeling deep down inside that you’re definitely waking up, and another where you know you won’t wake up because deep down inside you don’t want to and you’re not ready to take the fight against shaytaan of waking up in the morning.
Below I detail some practical and spiritual tools, that will help you in achieving scenario 1 all the time inshaAllah:

SPIRITUAL TOOLS
  • Know who Allah is: This is the key and number one tool to waking up for Fajr. If you know Who you’re worshipping, and you know that He requests that you get up in the morning and pray to Him, you’ll wake up. It’s our lack of understanding of who Allah is that makes us slump into scenario 2 all the time. Know your Lord, that’s key.
  • Sincerity: Be sincere about waking up for fajr, don’t just say to yourself: “InshaAllah, it’ll be nice if I wake up for fajr” be sincere about it, and say: “I will wake up for fajr” I find it useful sometimes to talk to myself about it before going to sleep and say: “I will wake up for fajr, i don’t care how, but I’ll definitely will!”
  • Wudu before sleep: Ibn Abbas reported that Allah’s Messenger said: “Purify these bodies and Allah will purify you, for there is no slave who goes to sleep in a state of purity but an Angel spends the night with him, and every time he turns over, [the Angel] says, ‘O Allah! Forgive Your slave, for he went to bed in a state of purity.” Do you think that such a person would be left to oversleep and miss fajr?
  • Witr Prayer + Dua: Make sure you don’t sleep before performing your witr prayer, and supplicate to Allah during your Witr prayer to help you wake up for Fajr, remember, “You Alone we Worship, and You Alone we Seek help from”
  • Read some Quran: Ending the day with verses of the Noble Quran will sure put your focus straight on waking up for salaat. Prophet Muhammad used to recommend that we recite Surat Al-Sajdah, and Surat Al-Mulk (Chapters 32 and 67) before going to sleep.
  • Remember Allah before you go to Sleep: This is part of the first point I made, and you can find all the supplications you need to recite before going to sleep here. You might need to print them off and read them off paper at first, but within a week or two you should be able to memorize them fully and just recite them before dozing off.
  • Remember the rewards attached to Fajr Salaat: from being safe from being a hypocrite, to having light on the day of judgement, to being under Allah’s protection the whole day, to having laziness removed from us that day and being productive. Remember these rewards and you’ll sure wake up.
Other tools I use that help me a lot:
Ask a friend/family member to wake you up: This is the number one rule for me to wake up. Get a family, friend, spouse to wake up, and help each other, if you get up before them, don’t be selfish and make sure they are awake too.
  • 1.5 hours sleep rule: Aaaah.. here’s a secret trick, there’s a theory in the Sleep science that says that every human being completes an entire sleep cycle in 1.5 hours, therefore, if you can wake up at the end of a multiple of 1.5 hours (e.g. 1.5 hours, or 3 hours, or 4.5 hours..etc) you’ll wake up fresh and rejuvenated. Otherwise, you’ll wake up lazy. So if fajr is at 5am, and you sleep at 12am, make sure you set your alarm at 4.30am, because that gives you 4.5 hours to sleep. (Of course, if you take 1/2 an hour to fall to sleep, you might need to add that into your calculation).
  • Nap in the afternoon: Another lifehack, taken from the Sunnah and recommended by many, make sure you nap in the afternoon, for just 20 minutes! yup, just 20 minutes. Trust me, for the past 3 years, I’ve mastered the 20 min nap, and everytime it never fails to rejuvenate me. If you need to train yourself to nap for that long, I highly recommend www.pzizz.com, a wonderful software that trains you for these short naps, it’s what I used to train myself.
  • Promise yourself a grand breakfast if you wake up for Fajr: I’m a breakfast guy, so if I wake up early, I sure like to have a big breakfast. Sometimes i look forward to my breakfast from the afternoon before, and just like a small reward, treat yourself to a massive breakfast in the morning. It’ll definitely set your day straight as well inshaAllah.

Dakwah - Sedikit ilmu bukan penghalang

Katakan kepadanya sabda Rasulullah SAW, “Sampaikanlah dariku walau hanya satu ayat. Ceritakanlah kisah Bani Israil tanpa ragu-ragu.

Allah SWT berfirman, “Mengapa kamu menyuruh orang lain mengerjakan kebaikan sedangkan kamu melupakan diri (kewajibanmu sendiri). (QS Al Baqarah : 44)

Mereka pun kembali tahun berikutnya sebanyak 12 orang.

(QS An Nur: 55

Avoid wishing jumm'ah mubarak

mong some of the new INNOVATIONS within the religion (Bid`ah) after Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) death is a new trend of wishing Jumah Mubarak, You`ll find a lot of people wishing each other Have a blessed friday/Jumuah Mubarak.

Dear Brothers & Sisters...How can you INNOVATE WITHIN THE RELIGION that which the Prophet & his companions themselves didn`t do ?

1st we need to realize the ideology behind it, and since we have many Philosophers these days, who say, BUT WE ARE JUST WISHING EACH OTHER Blah Blah Blah !

We need to realize this first that, who were better in terms of seeking goodness for the sake of Allah ? Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) and the Sahaaba (His Companions) or we ?
Had their been any good in it Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) would have surely mentioned this in any of the Authentic Hadeeths.

Right ?

Then YOU doing this act either means, that you have a better understanding of Islam and ways to attain rewards from Allah than Rasool Allah (P.B.U.H) or YOU claim that they (Nauzubillah) cheated us by not sharing with us this act of gaining rewards.

What do you think ?
Do YOU consider YOURSELF better than them or were they better than you in terms of the understanding of the deen and ways of attaining Allah`s blessings ?

Furthermore, now see how a small Innovation can lead you to hell fire and can make you earn Allah`s curse.
RasoolAllah {Sallalahu Alayhi Was'salam} informed the Sahaabah, that they must adhere to his Sunnah and Sunnah of Khulfa Rashideen, and told them that avoid newly invented matters, because every reprehensiable novelty is reprehensiable Biddah, and every reprehensiable Biddah is error:

Sunnan Abu Dawood, Book 40, Number 4590: "Narrated Irbad ibn Sariyah: Abdur Rahman ibn Amr as-Sulami and Hujr ibn Hujr said: ... He then said: I enjoin you to fear Allah, and to hear and obey even if it be an Abyssinian slave, for those of you who live after me will see great disagreement. You must then follow my sunnah and that of the rightly-guided caliphs. Hold to it and stick fast to it. Avoid novelties, for every novelty is an innovation, and every innovation is an error."

Sahih Muslim, Book 4, Hadith 1885:Jabir b. Abdullah said: ... He would also say:" The last Hour and I have been sent like these two." and he would join his forefinger and middle finger; and would further say: "The best of the speech is embodied in the Book of Allah, and the beet of the guidance is the guidance given by Muhammad. And the most evil affairs are their innovations; and every innovation is error." He would further say:, I am more dear to a Muslim even than his self; ..."

Sahih Bukhari, Book 92, Hadith 382: "Narrated 'Abdullah: The best talk (i.e. speech) is Allah's Book {i.e. Quran}, and the best way is the way of Muhammad, and the Worst matters are the heresies (i.e. those new things which are introduced into the religion); and whatever you have been promised will surely come to pass, and you cannot escape (it)."

Prophet {sallalahu alayhi was'salam} warned, that one who intorduces a Biddah {not in harmony with principles of deen, withoud valid reason of Sharia, and without aproval from Prophet, Sahabah} such a person is cursed by Allah as well as one who shelters him:

Sunan Abu Dawood, Book 39, Hadith 4515: "Narrated Ali ibn AbuTalib: Qays ibn Abbad and Ashtar went to Ali and said to him: Did the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) give you any instruction about anything for which he did not give any instruction to the people in general? He said: No, except what is contained in this document of mine. Musaddad said: He then took out a document. Ahmad said: A document from the sheath of his sword. It contained: The lives of all Muslims are equal; they are one hand against others; the lowliest of them can guarantee their protection. Beware, a Muslim must not be killed for an infidel, nor must one who has been given a covenant be killed while his covenant holds. If anyone introduces an innovation, he will be responsible for it. If anyone introduces an innovation or gives shelter to a man who introduces an innovation (in religion), he is cursed by Allah, by His angels, and by all the people. Musaddad said: Ibn AbuUrubah's version has: He took out a document."

Sahih Muslim, Book 7, Hadith 3159: 'Asim reported: I asked Anas b. Malik whether Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) had declared Medina as sacred. He said: Yes. (the area) between so and so. He who made any innovation in it, and further said to me: It is something serious to make any innovation in it (and he who does it) there is upon him the curse of Allah, and that of the angels and of all the people, Allah will not accept from him on the Day of Resurrection either obligatory acts or the surpererogatory acts. Ibn Anas said: Or he accommodates an innovator.”

Sahih Muslim, Book 7, Hadith 3166: “Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) as saying: Medina is a sacred territory, so he who made any innovation in it. or gave protection to an innovator, there is upon him the curse of Allah, that of the angels and that of all the people. There would not be accepted on the Day of Resurrection either obligatory acts or supererogatory acts from him.”

Mubtadi {Innovator's}and one who accommodates him are cursed by Allah his angles, and all the people, Messenger of Allah further revealed that Allah will not accept the obligatory acts of worship etc … nor will He accept supererogatory acts, i.e. nawafil prayers, Taraweeh, etc … on the day of judgement, hence without acceptance of Farahid, and Nawafil, person has no basis to enter paradise, he will be sent to fire of hell.

RasoolAllah {sallalahu alayhi was'salam} foretells that on the day of judgement Allah subhana wa tallah will grant him honour on Al Kauthar, and a group of people will come to Messenger of Allah asking for the water, and angles will remind him that they are innovator's and Messenger of Allah will send them away:

Sahih Muslim, Book 30, Hadith 5706 : “Anas b. Malik reported Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) as saying: Some persons from amongst my associates would turn to my Reservoir {Al Kauthar}; when I would see them and they would be presented to me, they would be detained in the way while coming to me. I would say: My Lord, they are my companions, they are my companions, and it would be said to me: You don't know what innovations they made after you?”

Sahih Muslim, Book 30, Hadith 5690: “'Abdullah reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying; I shall be there at the Reservoir {Al Kauthar} before you, and I shall have to contend for some people, but I shall have to yield. I would be saying: My Lord, they are my friends, they are my friends, and it would be said: You don't know what innovations they made after you?”

Sahih Muslim, Book 30, Hadith 5686: “Umm Salama, the wife of Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him), said I used to hear from people making a mention of the Reservoir {Al Kauthar}, but I did not hear about it from Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him). One day while a girl was combing me I heard Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) say:" O people." I said to that girl: Keep away from me. She said: He (the Holy Prophet) has addressed the men only and he has not invited the attention of the women. I said: I am amongst the people also (and have thus every right to listen to the things pertaining to religion). Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: I shall be your harbinger on the Resevoir {Al Kauthar}; therefore, be cautious lest one of you should come (to me) and may be driven away like a stray camel. I would ask the reasons, and it would be said to me: You don't know what innovations they made after you? And I would then also say: Be away.”

Imam Nasai rahimullah narrates the above Hadith, but adds another part:

* Sunan Nasai: “And the most evil affairs are the innovations. And every innovation is error; and every error is misguidance; and every misguidance will lead to the hell fire.”

Terdapat dua orang nelayan.

Aku berdosa, tetapi aku berjaya….
